One-Touch’s supporting structure, is a high strength aluminum assembly. One-Touch frames and steps are made of the same high strength aluminum as the supporting structure. One-Touch Aluminum is anodized in silver (standard color).
The 18mm plywood used on the One-Touch Electric Attic Stairway is treated with Flame Stop
fire retardant which meet the UL standards for the designation of FRS Rating. Thus the door
panel is meeting the 30 minute test standards for Flame Spread, Smoke Developed, and Fuel
Consumption to achieve the FRS designation by Underwriters Laboratories. The fire retardant
treated plywood carries a Class 1 or “A” rating which is recommended for areas where fire
hazards are most severe. Materials with the lowest rate of flame spread (0-25) are classed by
all building codes as Class 1 or “A”. Flame Stop’s spread characteristics have been tested and
approved by the following standards:
- NFPA Standard 255
- ASTM Standard E-84
- UL 723 Class A or 1 Rating
For energy savings, One-Touch’s panel is fully insulated with aluminum covered foam board with R-10 rating.
One-Touch is designed to fit all standard residential truss spacing.
One-Touch will stop it’s extension if an obstacle is in the way, although the motor continues to run until the remote or the toggle is released.

What ceiling height does the stairway accommodate?
One-Touch comes in three different sizes. One model (OT810) accommodates 8-10 ft. ceiling
heights, model (OT1012) accommodates 10-12 ft. ceiling heights and (OT1216) accommodates
12-16 ft. ceiling heights.
What is the operating voltage of One-Touch?
One-Touch uses 110-120 VAC, 5 AMPS.
Can the One-Touch be installed as a retrofit to an existing attic stairway, as well as, for new construction?
Yes, One-Touch can retrofit existing pull-down stairways, as well as, accommodate new
construction in rough opening widths of 23″, 25.5″ and 30.5″. The rough opening length of 54” is available up to 12’ and rough opening lengths of 60”, 61” and 65” are available from 8-16’.
How is One-Touch operated?
One-Touch is operated by a remote. For additional safety, One-Touch comes with a momentary toggle switch, (On)-Off-(On), for the attic space, as well. Additionally, an optional second toggle switch can be purchased for installation in the room below. This toggle switch includes the necessary wiring.
Can One-Touch be operated if the electricity goes out?
While electricity is required to operate One-Touch, an optional battery back-up can be used.
Can I install One-Touch by myself?
No, we recommend that a professional contractor does the actual installation and that a certified electrician brings the required electrical power source close to the area where One-Touch is installed.
Does One-Touch provide insulation for in-home applications?
Yes, it is insulated with an R-10 aluminum foam board and rubber seal to prevent air leakage.
Is One-Touch Fire Rated?
One-Touch is all aluminum construction with a Flame Stop 30 minute fire rated panel.
Do all models have handrailing?
Models for rough openings 25.5” and 30.5” have double railing while the model for 23” rough opening has only a single railing on the left side as you climb the stairway.
